New EP "Parallels Ch. 1" Announcement!

I am excited to announce that our new EP “Parallels Chapter 1” is finished and will be released August 25th!
About two years ago, I started thinking about putting together a jazz-funk group featuring a 3-piece horn section. It seemed like all the musical ideas I was getting fit into this kind of group, so I began writing and arranging tunes and debuted the group in January 2015. I wanted the benefit of performing the songs live for a period of time before recording them so each musician could own them in a unique way bringing a strong cohesiveness to the group. Over the past year and a half the group has truly made the tunes come alive way more than I could have imagined and even more than I wrote on the page! This recording represents the process of writing, performing and tweaking those songs over that time.
I have always been drawn to soulful music with a strong melodic pull that would make you walk away bouncing your head & humming the melodies. Soul jazz classics like Herbie Hancock’s “Watermelon Man”, Quincy Jones’ “Sanford & Son Theme”, Joe Zawinul’s “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” as well as modern performers like Marcus Miller and Snarky Puppy have influenced my writing for this project.
My hope is that you enjoy listening to the music as much as I did making it!
